Metering and billing systems
Fast track, economical, when it comes to setting the tariff, the commercial rate in most instances is generally lower cost than domestic, so we can pass on savings to the consumer and this often negates the fact that in a private network, consumers are not free to choose their own energy supplier.
WilSon’s Energy assessors are always on hand to offer a bill validation service to ensure the main charges are billed correctly as well as offering a procurement service to obtain the best available energy contract.
WilSon Energy offers property managers and landlords a quick turnaround, fast-track build and lower cost. Going direct to the utility company would involve putting in infrastructure on individual properties, which can take more than 20 weeks.
Ongoing billing and bureau services
Once a development is complete, WilSon Energy can provide full Billing & Bureau Services, including management of pre-payment metering solutions, offering an end-to-end solution for clients.
Working on an end to end utilities solution in Wolverhampton
One example of this kind of project, is a city centre development in the West Midlands, where an old office block is being converted into 144 one and two bedroomed apartments, creating stylish city centre living.
The existing electricity supply did not provide enough capacity, therefore, an upgrade of the network was required.
In addition, the building’s existing sub-station was located within the main building and in a position that in the plans, was marked as a residential dwelling.
WilSon Energy is delivering and managing the complete utilities solution for the development for electricity and water. This includes:
- organising the supply and installation of a new electricity sub-station and GRP enclosure
- removal of the existing sub-station from within the building, excavation and back-fill of the car park to lay new cables to the building
- installing all internal electrical cables to each floor along with Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) approved electricity sub-meters
- installing in-line smart meters for each dwelling to measure water usage
- an ongoing contract with the property management company to carry out the billing to the new residents and manage the entire process including revenue collection and debt management.
Andy Wilkinson, CEO of WilSon Energy explains:
“As there was not enough capacity in the existing electricity supply, a full upgrade of the network was required. Under the carpark of the building we installed cabling to run up six floors and sub-metering for electric and water, plus an automated meter reading system for retrieving data for our billing system, so the service can be carried out. We also carried out removal of the existing substation, as this would have been in the centre of a new proposed flat.
We also created private networks where the existing supplies provide suitable capacity, saving on the main utility infrastructure costs and helped the client negate the time-consuming and complex process associated with such installations. This meant they could focus on delivering the development and complete the projects ahead of schedule and budget.”
